How did Esther’s Muse come about?

Often  I used to practice in the garage so as not to bother anyone inside the house.  (Of course, now the whole neighborhood could hear me!)

One neighbor did hear me and knocked on the door, introducing himself as bassist Charlie, and invited me to his house to jam.  That was the beginning of many musical adventures with my creative and free spirited friend.

Charlie encouraged me to let the muse speak.  He called it Esther’s Muse.

Esther’s Muse has actually been around a long long time.  She used to visit me as a young child as I would sing to my guinea pigs or sit on the sidewalk and play songs on my recorder.

Later on, Esther’s muse chose the clarinet to express herself.  Then in 2000 she chose the alto saxophone as her voice.

Now, the muse keeps me in touch with the feelings and creative side of my personality.  Music has become a great passion of mine, as well as something that I consider a project.  The project is that of learning to get out of the way of the muse.  That requires developing skill and understanding and learning to listen in a way that continues to inform the musical expression.
